Marketing Assistant (Full Time)

TrailBlaze Creative, (TBC) an independent marketing and communications firm, seeks a talented individual to assist in developing new and unique marketing journeys for our clients. As a firm dedicated to lifting the communities in which we serve, our team members have a passion for solving community challenges, using marketing, communications, and technology to find success. In the last year, we’ve tackled some major problems for our clients including bridging the digital divide in Pittsburgh, driving economic recovery efforts in communities across North America, attracting underserved populations to new workforce opportunities, assisted small businesses in pivoting from brick and mortar to online sales, and much, much more. Most of our work (90%+) is work with nonprofits who are working to positively impact their communities. If this kind of work excites you, then we should talk.

We are seeking a Marketing Assistant to support our team’s efforts in delivering tactical marketing support to clients. Half of this position will be focused on internal support such as coordinating meetings, travel, documenting internal processes, managing and organizing project tasks, and supporting the internal administration of the team. The other half of this position will provide external support to client work, including executing email marketing campaigns, drafting documents, posting social media content, and more. Critical skills for this position include attention to detail, organization, and ability to learn software programs. This position will also require proficient writing and proofreading skills. This is an ideal position for someone with strong writing and organization skills who is looking for tactical marketing experience to break into the industry.

We do some fun and important work for mission-based clients that are working to impact their communities.

Responsibilities
• Support marketing executives in organizing various projects. Support the administrative workload of leadership, to include managing calendar invitations, travel arrangements, email responses, and more. Experience in this area is a plus.
• Undertake daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department’s activities. Manage the internal organization of work and processes within the team. This includes the client and project cycles and tasks, using internal project management tools.
• Draft content for internal and external communications, including press releases, letters, emails, newsletters, case studies, etc.
• Conduct research and analyze data to assist in preparation of reports/ questionnaires
• Employ marketing analytics techniques to gather important data (social media, web analytics, rankings etc.)
• Update spreadsheets, databases and inventories with statistical, financial and non-financial information
• Assist in the organizing of promotional events and traditional or digital campaigns and possibly attend them to facilitate their success
• Compose and post online content on websites, email blast campaigns, and social media accounts
• Communicate directly with clients and encourage trusting relationships
• Provide significant attention to details in design and content, and review others’ work for errors. Collaborate with and critique others on the team. We all pitch in!
• Provide internal guidance around project management skills to benefit all team members
• Help us be better at what we do. We want to be better with each position for which we hire.

Skillset Must-haves
• Exquisite communication and people skills
• Good understanding of office management and marketing principles
• Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
• Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach
• Advanced knowledge in basic computer programs (email, calendars, documents, spreadsheets, web browsers, etc.)
• Knowledge of marketing terms and activities, as well as what marketing solutions support client challenges. You need to talk the talk.
• Organization skills. You will build internal processes and structures to support operations.
• Strong writing skills with knowledge of proper sentence structure and style based on the content being drafted
• Strong project management skills, time management, and work ethic
• A willingness to learn and collaborate
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google tools
• (Last but perhaps most important) Our team has a passion for learning, collaboration, and our work. Our clients do AMAZING things. You must have a passion for communities, people, and making systems better for communities and people. We love people with a similar passion for this work.

Skillset Nice to haves
• Experience with MailChimp, social media, and other marketing tools

This position is full-time and will primarily telecommute (especially in the current environment) so it is important that candidates have access to internet access and phone access. Most of our work is concentrated in Pittsburgh, PA and we also have a presence in Detroit, MI. While we would prefer a candidate where our work is concentrated, we are open to all candidates. Some travel/transportation may also be required, but it is not a core element of this position.
