Communities & Municipalities
Helping our Neighborhoods thrive.
Communities and municipalities, regardless of their more idiosyncratic goals, share a common desire to inspire their residents to become active, participatory members of their community: to feel at home, and a part of the process of growth. Creating a distinct, recognizable brand that communicates the unified identity of a place is one challenge, but it is equally difficult to articulate the shared values and vision of a community or municipality. Additionally, each community must work to attract funding and support for development projects and services, while encouraging input from local residents whenever possible. Working to address this range of communications-, public relations-, and marketing-related needs can often be a daunting task for small municipal staffs focused on (and stretched thin by) the logistical, day-to-day operations of their communities.
With these challenges in mind, TrailBlaze recognizes that communities and municipalities sometimes need help to achieve all of their goals. We see our consultations and collaborations as an opportunity to play a direct role in impacting a community’s growth (whether it’s part of a full-scale renaissance or a public image recalibration). What excites us as collaborators is that with each new client, we are compelled to think and act in a more localized way–to acknowledge the specific needs and desires of a community, as well as its cultural, historical, and traditional strengths.

Lack of internal capacity to conduct strategic, place-based marketing
Attracting needed businesses and new residents
Plans collecting dust on the shelves
How We Help
To assist communities and municipalities in their efforts to (re)define themselves, improve interactions with community members, inspire resident participation, and attract development, we apply a variety of effective strategies. We often start by developing or revamping a clear identity for the community through a recognizable aesthetic; this often translates into concrete changes like developing a new logo/brand, website, and digital media campaigns designed to reach and influence constituents. Communicating the organization’s up-to-date vision and story through emails, newsletters, and/or public events also works to create a sense of inclusion while exciting public interest and involvement in communal/municipal projects.
