Social Media Strategy & Execution, Marketing-in-Residence®

Trailhead: Where We Started
The University of Pittsburgh’s Institute of Politics (IOP) needed to find better ways to build, strengthen, and optimize its online presence and social media marketing. Knowing that these platforms could be used to increase their outreach for programming, solicit feedback from their wide audience and increase the visibility of the IOP’s ongoing efforts to sustain connections with alumni, they reached out to TrailBlaze Creative for support. The Institute of Politics needed additional capacity and support in developing a strategy for deploying social media tactics that would help significantly impact their programs and goals.
Trek: Steps We’ve Taken
TrailBlaze Creative used our Marketing-in-ResidenceⓇ model to deliver strategic leadership, consulting, and marketing to improve the IOP’s online and social media presence, while also fulfilling marketing capacity needs of their team. TBC also implemented tactical support for the promotion of its programs and initiatives through website development, search engine optimization, email marketing, topic-based communications, social media, and partner engagement.
Summit: Vision Realized
TBC’s efforts improved the impact and reach of the IOP’s ongoing efforts and helped sustain connections with all of their stakeholders across Pennsylvania and the region. The adaptability and implementation of virtual meetings during the pandemic added a new channel to connect with their students and community. Recent programming has resulted in attendance levels higher than the client was seeing pre-pandemic. With ongoing Marketing-in-ResidenceⓇ support, the Institute of Politics’ relationship with TrailBlaze Creative continues to grow and TBC is providing media relations, event marketing and event logistic support for the organization.
